Okay, here’s my blog post about remaking the PRADA Re-Edition 2005 Bag:

So, I saw this PRADA Re-Edition 2005 bag online, the one made of nylon, and I thought, “Hey, I can totally make that!” I mean, it looked simple enough, right? A mini hobo bag. I’ve done some sewing projects before, nothing too crazy, but I was feeling ambitious. Plus, saving some money sounded pretty good too.

First, I started by looking for materials. I went to a bunch of fabric stores, trying to find the right kind of nylon. It needed to be sturdy but also look kind of fancy, you know? After a few misses, I finally found this black nylon that seemed perfect. It even had that slight sheen that the original bag has. For the trim, I opted for some black leather. Seemed close enough to the original one.

  • Gathered my tools: sewing machine, thread, needles, scissors, you know, the usual stuff.
  • Printed out some pictures of the bag from different angles. I didn’t have a pattern, so I was just going to eyeball it.
  • Started cutting the nylon. This was the scariest part, honestly. I measured like five times before making each cut. I made two main pieces for the body, and then some smaller bits for the sides and bottom.

Then came the sewing. I stitched the main pieces together, forming the basic shape of the bag. It was actually coming together! I added the sides and the bottom, which was a bit tricky, but I managed. I used a silver zipper that I found online – it looked like the one on the real bag, so I was pretty happy with that.

Next up was the leather trim. I cut the leather into strips and carefully sewed them onto the edges of the bag. This part took a while, but it really elevated the look. I also made a small leather pouch, just like the original.

For the strap, I used a black nylon strap that I bought. I thought about making one, but honestly, I was getting a bit tired at this point. I attached it to the bag with some silver hardware that I also found from one of my shopping trips.

The Final Touches

Finally, I added a little “PRADA” logo that I had 3D-printed. It’s not exactly the same, but it’s a fun little detail. I also made a small pouch and attached it to the main bag. I had to make adjustments along the way, like re-doing some seams that weren’t quite straight, but overall, I’m really happy with how it turned out. This small step made it look like the original one.

And there you have it! My homemade PRADA Re-Edition 2005 bag. It’s not perfect, but I made it myself, and that’s pretty cool, right? It was definitely a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. Maybe I’ll tackle another designer bag next time! Or maybe not… we’ll see.

Hope you guys like it! It was fun to make it and share it with you all!
