So, I decided to remake this Prada bag, the Galleria, they call it. A big one, the Large size. I saw it in their official store, and man, it’s something else. Not cheap, but you know, it’s Prada. They say it’s made of Saffiano leather, sounds fancy. I thought, why not give it a try?
First, I got my hands on this Saffiano calf leather. Full-grain, they call it. Feels tough, looks good. I wanted it to be like the real deal, you know?
Then came the tricky part – figuring out how this whole thing is put together. I spent days just looking at pictures, videos, anything I could find about this Galleria bag. It’s got this double zip, you see, and rolled leather handles. Not as simple as it looks. I started sketching, making patterns. Cardboard, scissors, glue – my table was a mess.
- Get the leather: Found some good Saffiano stuff.
- Study the bag: Looked at a ton of pictures.
- Make a plan: Sketched and made patterns.
Cutting the leather was nerve-wracking. One wrong cut and you’re done. But I went slow, measured twice, cut once. Like they say. Sewing it was another story. I’m no expert, but I’ve got a decent sewing machine. It took time, a lot of it, but I managed to stitch it all together.
Putting it Together
The gold-toned hardware was a bit of a challenge. I wanted it to look like the real Prada bag, so I searched around, found some decent pieces. Not the same, but close enough. Attaching them was fiddly work, but I got it done.
I also learned about this “authenticity card” thing. Apparently, real Prada bags have them. It’s like a little certificate. I didn’t bother with that, this is just for me, after all. This isn’t about tricking anyone, it’s about making something, learning along the way.
In the end, I had something that looked like a Large Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It’s not perfect, not like the ones in the store, but it’s mine. I made it. And that’s a pretty good feeling. I’ve seen all sorts of Prada bags, shoulder bags, mini bags, you name it. But this one, this one’s special. It’s my little project, my handmade Remake Prada Galleria.
It’s a big bag, you can fit a lot in it. I don’t know if I’ll use it much, maybe I will. But that’s not the point. The point was to see if I could do it, and I did. And that’s what matters. I also heard that the remake of the Galleria is selling well. But mine is my own, and it’s also the original order.
