Alright, let’s talk about this little project I got myself into – remaking the Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG. Now, I ain’t no fancy designer, but I’ve got a good eye and a steady hand, and I thought, why not give it a shot?
First off, I had to do some digging. Turns out, YSL and Saint Laurent are the same thing, just a name change apparently. I started by gathering my materials. This bag, it’s all about the details. - Leather: I managed to find some pretty decent leather scraps. Nothing too fancy, but good enough to work with. It took a while to find the right texture and color, but I got there.
- Lining: For the inside, I needed something soft. Found a nice piece of fabric that would do the trick.
- Hardware: This was a bit tricky. I needed those little metal bits, the clasps, and the chain. Rummaged through some old bags and found some that would work just fine.
Getting Down to Business
Then came the cutting and stitching. Now, I’ve done my fair share of sewing, fixing up clothes, and whatnot. But this was different. This was about making something special. I followed the original design as best as I could. They say this June Box Bag is a remake of something old. I took my time, measured twice, cut once, just like my ol’ grandpa used to say.
The stitching part was probably the most time-consuming. Hand-stitching that leather, making sure each stitch was even and tight. It was slow going, but I wanted it to be just right. After hours of work, putting it all together, it started to look like something. Not exactly like the original, mind you, but close enough. It had that same boxy shape, the same kind of feel to it. I even managed to get that little YSL logo on there, just like the real deal.
The Result
And there it was, my very own YSL June Box Bag. It felt good to hold it in my hands, to see all those hours of work come to life. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And I learned a lot along the way. About patience, about details, about how much work goes into making something beautiful. It is said that this June Box is named after some friend of this Yves Saint Laurent. Anyway, it’s a good name.
Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. And who knows, maybe I’ll get even better at it next time. But for now, I’m pretty proud of what I accomplished. It’s a reminder that you can make something special with your own two hands if you just put your mind to it.

Making something yourself, now that’s something to be proud of. And it’s way cheaper, I saw one online for like $310! Sometimes them consignment shops, they have hidden treasures.
