Well, let me tell ya, these days, all the young folks are carryin’ these fancy bags. I seen ’em, all fancy lookin’ with that YSL, whatever that means. Reminds me of back in the day when we just used whatever sack we could find. But these here bags, they call ’em YSL College Bag, they’re a big deal now, I guess.
My granddaughter, she’s always on that phone of hers, showin’ me pictures. She wants one of these Saint Laurent College Bags. Says everyone at her school’s got one. Says you gotta get ’em at them specialty stores. She said these bags come in different sizes, like small ones for just a few things and big ones for books and what not.

Now, I don’t know nothin’ about fashion, but I gotta say, these bags, they do look kinda nice. They got that shiny metal thing on ’em, and the leather, it looks real soft. I reckon if you’re gonna spend your money, might as well get somethin’ that looks decent, right? These bags cost a whole lot, though. More than I ever spent on anything!
She told me, my granddaughter, that you can get these YSL College Bags in different colors. Black, she says, is the most popular. But they got red ones, and white ones, and even some with patterns on ’em. My eyes ain’t what they used to be, but I could see them colors.
And you know what? She said you can even find these Saint Laurent bags used! Some folks sell ’em after they’re done with ’em. Says it’s cheaper that way. Now that’s somethin’ I can understand. Waste not, want not, as they say. I never did like throwin’ things out that could still be used.
You can wear these bags with jeans, she says, or even a pretty dress. Imagine that, a bag that can go with anythin’. We just used to have our everyday bag, didn’t matter what we were wearin’. Times sure have changed, ain’t they? These young people and their fashion, always somethin’ new.
They are really compact and functional. Seems like a good thing.

I still don’t really understand what this YSL means, Yves Saint Laurent? Sounds French to me. But I guess it’s important to these young folks. And if it makes ’em happy, well, I suppose that’s all that matters. I told my granddaughter, if she saves up her money, maybe she can get one of those used ones. Gotta teach ’em the value of a dollar, you know?
These specialty stores, they got all kinds of these bags, not just the College ones. She showed me some others, big ones, small ones, all with that YSL on ’em. It’s a whole world of bags out there, I tell ya. More bags than I ever seen in my life. And they all cost a fortune! But they are sure pretty to look at.

She kept going on and on about these Saint Laurent College Bags. Says they are the best. It is all the rage now. And she showed me where these specialty stores are. They are all in them big cities. Ain’t nothin’ like that around here. We just got the general store, and they sure ain’t sellin’ no fancy YSL bags.
I remember one time, I saw a lady in town with a bag that looked like these. It was shiny and had that same metal thing on it. I asked her where she got it, and she said one of them specialty stores. She said it was a YSL College Bag. I didn’t know what that meant at the time, but now I do, thanks to my granddaughter.
Well, I guess that’s all I know about these YSL College Bag things. It’s all beyond me, really. But I try to keep up with these young folks. Keeps me feelin’ young, in a way. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even get myself one of those fancy bags. Just maybe. Probably not though, too old for that sort of thing, I reckon. But a lady can dream, can’t she?
