Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Fendi Vitello King F is Fendi Logo Embossed Mini Mon Tresor Bucket Bag for a while now. I mean, who hasn’t? It’s, like, everywhere on the Fendi official store. And you know me, I’m a sucker for a good bucket bag. Plus, that embossed logo? Come on, it’s a statement piece!
So, I finally decided, you know what, I’m gonna try to copy this thing. I’m no professional, but I figured, how hard could it be? I got some leather that looked kinda similar, a rich, brown color. It wasn’t exactly the same “Cuoio” shade as the real deal, but close enough. I mean, I’m not trying to sell these things, it’s just for me, right?
First thing I did was try to figure out the shape. I stared at the pictures online for, like, hours. I even printed some out and tried to trace them. That didn’t really work, so I ended up just freehanding it. I cut out two big circles for the base, and then this long, rectangular piece for the body of the bag. It took a couple of tries to get the size right, I was messing around with my ruler and some paper templates for a bit.
The Hard Part: The Logo
Next up was the tricky part – the logo. The “F is Fendi” logo is pretty iconic, so I knew I had to at least try to get it right. I looked up some close-up pictures and tried to draw it out on a piece of paper first. Then, I took this sharp tool I had and carefully tried to, like, carve it into the leather. It was slow going, and honestly, it didn’t look that great at first. I messed up a few times and had to start over on a new piece of leather. But I kind of got the hang of it after a while, making sure I was pressing hard enough, but not too hard. I did not want to go through the leather!
After I got the logo looking decent enough, it was time to put the whole thing together. I used this thick thread and a big needle to sew the pieces together. Let me tell you, sewing leather is tough! My fingers were killing me by the end of it. I used a saddle stitch, which is apparently a good stitch to use on leather. I looked up a YouTube video to figure out how to do it. It’s kind of like two needles going back and forth and weaving around each other. It took a while to get a clean stitch and I definitely have to practice.
Making the Strap
Finally, I made the strap. I just cut a long, thin strip of leather and attached it to the bag with some metal rings I found at a craft store. I also made a little drawstring closure for the top, just like the real one. That was pretty easy, just punched some holes and threaded some leather cord through.
So, yeah, it took a few days, and a lot of trial and error, but I actually did it! My Fendi-inspired bucket bag was complete. It’s definitely not perfect, you can see some rough edges and the stitching isn’t exactly professional. And the logo, well, it’s a bit wonky, but you can tell what it’s supposed to be. But hey, I made it myself, and that’s pretty cool, right? I’m actually pretty proud of it, even if it’s a bit rough around the edges. I’ve been carrying it around, and I’ve gotten a few compliments. Most people don’t even realize it’s not the real thing!
I’m not sure I’d recommend this as a weekend project unless you’re super patient and really good with your hands, but I’m glad I did it. It was a fun challenge, and I learned a lot about working with leather. Plus, now I have a pretty cool bag that didn’t cost me a fortune.
