Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another crazy project. This time, I got it into my head that I wanted to try and remake a Patek Philippe. Yeah, I know, it sounds nuts. But I’ve always been a fan of those super fancy watches, and the Gondolo 7042/100R-010 just caught my eye. It’s one of those specialty store pieces, you know, the kind you can’t just walk in and buy.

So, I started doing some digging. I thought, “How hard could it be to find this watch?” Turns out, pretty damn hard. These things are like gold dust. Long waiting lists, exclusive boutiques, the whole nine yards. I quickly realized that getting my hands on a real one was going to be a pipe dream. But that didn’t stop me.

I started researching like a madman. I was looking up everything about the Gondolo 7042/100R-010. I mean everything. I probably spent hours just staring at pictures of this thing, trying to figure out how it was put together. I looked high and low, I checked the web for days.

The Design

  • The Case: The rose gold case is a stunner. It’s got this classic, elegant shape that I just love. I knew I wanted to replicate that.
  • The Dial: Oh boy, the dial. It’s got these intricate engravings that are just insane. I spent a good chunk of time just trying to understand the patterns.
  • The Movement: Obviously, I wasn’t going to be able to make a real Patek Philippe movement. But I wanted to find something that at least looked the part.

After all that research, I started gathering materials. It was a real scavenger hunt, let me tell you. I was hitting up all sorts of places, looking for parts that I could use. And after days of this, I was beginning to think it was impossible. But, I kept looking, I kept calling, I kept digging.

Then, I finally started putting this thing together. It was a long and painful process, not gonna lie. There were times when I thought about giving up. But I kept at it, piece by piece. I just kept trying things, seeing what worked and what didn’t.

And you know what? After all that work, I finally had something that resembled a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100R-010. Did it look exactly like the real thing? Of course not! I mean, I’m not a master watchmaker. But it was close enough for me. And honestly, it was a really fun project. It was a challenge, but I learned a ton along the way.

So, if you’re thinking about trying something like this, just go for it. It might be tough, but it’s definitely rewarding. And who knows, you might end up with a pretty cool watch at the end of it all. Just be prepared to put in the work, and don’t expect to become a watchmaking genius overnight. It’s all about the journey, right?

Anyway, that’s my story. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Catch you in the next one!
