Hey everyone, it’s your buddy here, back with another project I’ve been working on. This time, I got it in my head to remake that PRADA Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. You know, the classic style one. It’s a real looker, but man, it’s pricey!
So, I started by really looking at pictures of this bag online. Studied them good. Took notes on what makes it special. It’s that Saffiano leather, all right. That cross-hatchy texture. And the shape, kind of boxy but not too much. Plus, that little PRADA triangle logo, of course. I wanted to remake that bag and it’s made of that Saffiano leather.
First thing I did was try to find some leather that looked like Saffiano. Not easy, let me tell you! But I finally found some that was pretty close. It’s not the real deal, but it’s got that same kind of texture. I ordered a bunch of it online, fingers crossed it would work out.
While I waited for the leather, I started working on the pattern. Drew it all out on paper, measured everything like ten times. This bag is all about those clean lines, so I knew I had to get it just right. I cut out the pieces, pinned them together, just to see how it would look.
Then the leather arrived! I laid it all out, traced my pattern pieces onto it, and started cutting. That was nerve-wracking! One wrong cut and the whole thing could be ruined. But I took my time, breathed deep, and got it done.
Next up, sewing. I dusted off my old sewing machine and got to work. Slow and steady, that’s the key. I sewed the main body of the bag first, then the sides. Added the lining, which was a bit tricky, but I managed. And it’s got a “classic” look. I can carry it in your hand or on your arm.
- Sewed the main body
- Added the sides
- Attached the lining
Now, for that little PRADA logo. I didn’t have one of those fancy metal ones, so I improvised. I found some thick silver cardstock and cut out the triangle shape. Then I printed out the PRADA name in the right font and glued it on. Not perfect, but from a distance, it looks pretty good!
Last thing was the handles. I cut some strips of the same leather and sewed them together to make them thicker. Then I attached them to the bag. It is a wonderful leather that was designed so well. And voila! My remake of the PRADA Small Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag was finished!
It’s not exactly like the real thing, of course. But it’s got that same vibe. And it was a fun project to work on. Plus, I saved a ton of money! Maybe I’ll try another designer bag next. Any suggestions?
