This here Patek Philippe, what they call the Calatrava 6007G-010, it’s a fancy thing. They say it’s the “original order”, whatever that means. Sounds important, though. Must be good if it’s original, right?
I seen a picture of it, all shiny and gold-lookin’. They say it’s white gold, 18 karats. Big number, that 18. Must be real expensive, huh? Probably costs more than my whole house! And 40mm, that’s like the size of my thumb. The face is all pretty, but it’s that gold I noticed first.
They got all these numbers for it, like 6007G-010 and Calatrava. Means somethin’ to them fancy folks, I reckon. It’s a watch, that’s all I know. Tells the time. But it probably tells the time real good, for that much money! Inside, the thing’s got all these little wheels and whatchamacallits. It’s called “automatic.” Wind it itself, don’t need no crank. They say got 30 jewels. Jewels! Like them shiny rocks, all up inside it. Fancy, ain’t it?
Now, is this Patek Philippe Calatrava thing worth all that money? Well, I don’t know about all that. Depends on if you got money to burn, I guess. If you’re rich as a king, maybe. But for regular folks? Seems like a lot for just a watch. It’s pretty, sure. But would I wear it to do my chores? No way! I’d be scared to scratch it! It’s one of them luxury watch. I prefer a watch I don’t have to worry about.

There’s another one, even fancier, they call it the Grandmaster Chime. Sounds like somethin’ out of a fairy tale. Number 6300A-010. They say it’s the hardest Patek Philippe to get. Has 20 complications. I don’t know what them complications are, but it sounds mighty complicated! Probably tells you the time on the moon or somethin’. Must be made of solid gold, that one. And diamonds, maybe. Probably costs more than all our houses put together.
Now, I ain’t no expert on these fancy watches. But I know what I like. And I like things that are simple and work good. This Patek Philippe, it’s a pretty thing, sure. But it’s a lot of fuss for somethin’ that just tells the time. I like a simple watch, with big numbers, that’s good enough for me. That Calatrava 6007G-010 looks good, but I don’t need it.

If you have that much money, you should buy a house instead of a luxury watch, right?
If you got that kind of money burnin’ a hole in your pocket, well, go ahead. Buy yourself that fancy watch. But me? I’ll stick to my old one. It might not be a Patek Philippe Calatrava, but it tells the time just fine. And that’s all that really matters, ain’t it? Just remember time keep going no matter what watch you have.
